“As he walked along, it suddenly became darker and darker and there, beside a pool, stood an altar with a golden cup.”

200 years ago in the Spanish colonial village of Tome, New Mexico
When a young man named Pablo Augustine first sees a golden cup in the dirt outside the church, it sets him on a course of adventure and discovery he would never have imagined possible. His quest: to find the meaning of the mysterious object, his strange dreams, and what it means to him and his future. Life in Tomé, the quiet Spanish town in colonial New Spain (now known as New Mexico), had been uneventful until this sighting. Afterwards, a series of visions and dreams changes his destiny forever.
A unique and enchanting tale, “The Golden Cup” inhabits a place between fantasy and historical fiction. Its magical realism envelops the reader in a world at once familiar, yet long forgotten. One finds oneself transported back to a mythical time when spiritual aspirations and attainments were as important as worldly endeavors.

“In the old Spanish village of Tomé, centuries ago, the people of the village built a lovely medieval church of adobe and stone. Within this church there was a life-sized figure of Jesus in death. The figure rested beneath a side altar in a crib of wood and fine cloth. The statues of St. Michael and St. Joan of Arc kept watch amid a company of angels.”
